Change in Doorstep Drop-In Hours

2016-09-26

We are sorry to announce that from Tuesday 18th October we will be reducing our Family Drop-In hours here at Donnington Doorstep.

Our new opening hours will be:

Monday 10am – 1pm

Tuesday 10am – 1pm

Wednesday 10am – 1pm

Thursday – closed

Friday – 10am – 1pm

Changes are highlighted in bold.

This decision has been taken, with great sadness, in response to our ongoing funding constraints. In March 2016 we lost a major funding contract with Oxfordshire County Council as part of its closure of children’s centres and services. Over the past six months it has become apparent that it is not possible for us to plug a gap of that magnitude with smaller grants and donations. Rather than closing an entire day of service, we have chosen to make a small reduction on three days, and at a time when our service is least used.

Important things for you to know:

-We continue to provide an extensive drop-in service for local families, alongside our targeted family support. Messy play, creative activities, singing, storytelling and much more will keep going strong
-Our community Kitchen will continue to provide a healthy, fresh hot lunch on each day we are open, continuing our brilliant partnership with Oxford Food Bank.
-We are looking at other ways to use our building in the afternoons to ensure great provision for families, and we welcome any specific suggestions for new partnerships

We really appreciate the ongoing support of all our friends, and we invite you to consider joining our new fundraising campaign and becoming a Doorstep Champion if you would like to see us continue strongly into the future. Details on how to do this are all around the Centre as well as on our website!

Please bear in mind the impact this decision has on our brilliant staff as they face reductions in their working hours, and do spread the word around your networks so we can all rally round to secure Doorstep for future generations.

There is always laughter, happiness and mischief, there are things you would not expect, there are opportunities, there is grown up conversation, there are people to hold your little ones whilst you play with your older ones, there is mess and buttering, learning and exploring, riding and reading.
